Why Go For the Cheapest Glasses?
When shopping for new eyewear frames, be honest, have you ever searched in stores or online for the cheapest pair available? Even though these are something that will be a part of your everyday life for the next few years? And despite the fact that your frames and lenses are an integral part of your eye health?
When it comes to making big purchases the average person will usually stop to think about the best way to spend their hard earned dollars. This makes complete sense – you want to make sure that you will be making a smart purchase and that the washer, car, sofa or whatever else will last for years to come and you’ll be happy with your purchase!
But eyewear and frames are treated differently for some reason!!
A Price Comparison – Glasses vs. Other “Necessities”
Let’s take a quick look at some things that most people don’t even pause to consider if they should spend money on or not.
Did you know that the average woman will spend about $50 per haircut, adding up to $200 to $300 per year? And this is just for a haircut! If she is getting any sort of dye job, highlights, lowlights, blowouts or styling you can very easily double or triple this number!
The average manicure starts between $30-$40, and these are for your basic packages. If you want to add services such as cuticle treatments, massages or upgrade your polish to gel or shellac nails the prices climb even higher! A once a month manicure at your most basic level of treatment leaves you at a minimum of $360 per year!
Let’s take a quick look at a couple other beauty “essentials”. Lash extensions start at about $150 for a full set, and need to be maintained every 2 – 3 weeks. Lash fills start at around $55 and if you get them filled every 3 weeks that’s an additional $880 per year!
Microblading for your eyebrows can run anywhere from $300 – $800! Eyebrow threading or waxing can run you somewhere between $5-$20 per session, which seems reasonable. But they have to be upkept every 2 weeks, coming out to $130 – $520 per year!
So let’s run a quick tally – at a minimum you are looking at $1,700 spent on your outward appearance every year, no hesitation or questions asked about the costs. Not even including any products or makeup that you purchase for your own consumption at home.
Yet when it comes to glasses people will stop and think it’s not worth the investment.
